Changing Name in OCBC, DBS and POSB Singapore

Went to OCBC and POSB to change my name. Queue is like when you're queuing in their ATMs. POSB is far much longer. :) Took me around 1 1/2 hours to finish. 

Good thing that once name is changed in POSB, DBS accounts will also be updated. Great! :) Thought I need to queue up the 3rd time. 

Processing is done very fast. Just present your new IC, sign some papers and voila! your new name is already reflected in their system. However, if you have credit cards, your name is still the same unless you request for a new card, which, of course, will be replaced with a fee. You can wait for your card to expire and they will issue you your new card reflecting your new name.

Post Note (July 2013): OCBC Plus! issued new credit cards. However, the replaced card does not bear my new name...Why ah...Never bothered to call and ask. Hehehe  

Extension of Wacks' Long Term Social Visit Pass

Last Saturday was our appointment for Wacks' extension of LTSVP. We arrived 2 to 3 minutes passed our schedule. Hehehe...Tagal nagising ni Wacks. First time he slept beside Zoe.

Daddy proceeded to the e-appointment kiosk to scan the doc. While Wacks and I have our photos taken. Aunty is so patient with Wacks and took more than 6 photos as he was not looking directly to the camera. In the end, we decided on the photo where Wacks is looking a bit downward. :) Passport pic, 4pcs, $5.

While we were in the photo taking station, Daddy have already submitted the docs and the officer was just waiting for the pic. After my photo was taken, I went to 3rd storey to change my name. After around 15 minutes, they were done and Daddy left Wacks with me and went to work.

Once the application have been approved, renewal fee is $90.

It's Official!

Finally, after 3 years of being married and 2 kids, I am now using my married name in my IC! :) Application by counter in ICA only takes me 30-45 mins. We were there earlier at around 8:30am. I was expecting a long queue at the information counter (to get queue number) as it was a Saturday. But I was 2nd in line. 


1. After around 10 minutes, my number was called and was attended to by the officer. 
2. Presented her my passport, IC and deed poll. Gave her photocopies.
3. Took my thumb prints. 
4. Verified if my particulars are correct. 
5. Paid $60.
6. I was given a slip of paper and pass to the IC collection counter.
7. In less than 30 minutes, I already collected my new IC with my NEW NAME on it! Yey!


Now, have to remember all the banks and companies that I need to update. :)

Below are the requirements and procedures taken from ICA's FAQ website:

9. What supporting documents are required if I wish to change my name on my NRIC? What should I do?

The following documents are required for changes to your name:

• Baptism or Religious Certificate for insertion of religious name. This certificate should contain the registrant's name in full as well as the BC/NRIC/Passport number (for Permanent Residents)
• Deed Poll; which is a legal document executed by all Advocates or Solicitors to effect a change in name, including the ethnic name (ie. Name in Chinese Characters, Jawi or Tamil script). The deed poll should be executed by the registrant's parents if the registrant is below 21 years of age.
• Marriage Certificate for insertion of married name.

Once your application has been submitted succesfully, you have to submit a copy of the dcument to ICA either through email: ICA_IC_Unit@ica.gov.sg or via fax to 6293 6991. If you are sending the document via fax, kindly indicate “iC Online” on the first page of the document.

The original copy of the document must be produced when you call at ICA to collect your NRIC.

10. If I want to add in my Christian name in my NRIC, how do I submit my deed poll/baptism certificate to show proof?

For application made via iC Online, you would be required to key in your new name on the web application form. The original copy of the document would have to be produced when you come in to collect your NRIC.

Missing the sun, sand and sea...

It's been 3 years since I've been to the beach...So unlike me...I miss the smell of the sea, the feel of sand under my feet, the scorching sun touching my skin...sunset, sunrise, relaxing and just staring in awe at God's wonderful creations. A great place to have fellowship with God. Never experienced this with my family...How's it going to be...Can't wait. :)

Oh Maldives, I want to visit you. :)

Deed Poll, Check!

Got my deed poll yesterday at People's Park Complex in Chinatown. I am officially changing my name in Singapore tomorrow@ ICA. :)

Here are the procedures on how I got my deed poll.

1. Called the lawyer's office. Mine is Prasanna Devi. Thanks Sis Anna Torio for the contact number. :)
2. I was advised to email them my scanned copy of Marriage Cert and NRIC and state the NEW name. After 2 days, I did not received any acknowledgement or whatsover so I called again. I was advised to collect after 1 wk due to the New Year's Day holiday.
3. Went to their office and when I arrived, the accommodating staff asked me to check if the particulars are correct. After 15-20 minutes, deed poll is ready plus the photocopy. Paid $70.
